CASE HARDENING STEELS
Case Hardening process; is the process of forming carbon impregnation on the steel surface. Case Hardening steels are low-carbon, unalloyed or alloyed steels with high surface hardness and wear resistance, soft, ductile and tough in the core which are used in the manufacture of parts resistant to variable and impact stresses. With Case Hardening steels, large variable and sudden loads are met and warping is prevented, while the inner parts of the steels can be easily processed. Welding capabilities are also good in such materials. The carbon ratio of cementation steels is between 0.10-0.20 percent in its composition. (%C <0.2)
Case Hardening steels are used in the manufacture of parts like gears, shafts, piston pins, chain links, sprockets and rollers, discs, guide bearings, rolling bearings, rollers, some measurement & control instruments, medium or forced parts and cutting tools.
They could be produced in standard lengths of 3-6 meter and special sizes in accordance with TS EN 10277-4 Quality Standard and TS EN 10278 Dimensions & Tolerances Standard. [20NiCrMo2 (SAE8620), 16MnCr5, 20MnCr5 (SAE5120), 16MnCrS5, 20MnCrS5, 17CrNiMo6, 16MnCrPb5, 15CrNi6, 18CrNi8]
